Peyz's 6 Pentakills Still Not Enough to Cover T1's Weaknesses

Peyz's sixth Pentakill of his career has written his name into League of Legends history in the LCK, but that is not what T1 needs most. That number is three times the total Pentakills Faker has managed in over 13 years of top-level play – an impressive statistic, but one that also exposes the imbalance in T1's playstyle. They remain a team behind HLE and Gen.G, and Peyz's individual record cannot turn T1 into a strong collective. The problem lies in how T1 operate. They build their entire strategy around Peyz: the top laner picks champions that require few resources, diverting minions and jungle camps to the AD carry. This allows Peyz plenty of damage opportunities, but it also creates a one-dimensional style. When Peyz is locked down by excellent AD carries like Gumayusi, Ruler or Smash in teamfights, T1 has almost no alternative. They are often forced into a situation where they have to carry through him, forcing Peyz to shoulder the burden in less-than-ideal circumstances. The notable thing is that Peyz cannot always carry. He often keeps T1's hopes alive in difficult moments, but there are games where he has to overperform because of teammates' mistakes. Doran, the top laner, has yet to show the necessary consistency. In the match against BFX, Faker played well with Yone, contributing important damage, but that was a rare bright spot; T1 lacks a reliable second win condition. When a player is prioritized for resources and becomes the center of every fight, the number of Pentakills naturally rises. This does not fully reflect Peyz's superiority over his peers; it reflects his playstyle and role in the team. Comparing him to Faker is meaningless because of positional and stylistic differences. In the LCK, having four world-class AD carries in the same region is a sign of a strong esports scene, but it is also a huge challenge for T1. They cannot rely on a single spearhead when every opponent knows how to neutralize it. HLE and Gen.G rarely give T1 a chance to turn the game around in a BO5 series. If nothing changes, T1 will continue to trail these giants. So what needs to be done? T1 need to develop more win conditions, such as leveraging Faker's abilities in games with mid-lane advantages, or improving Doran's stability. They also need more flexibility in drafting to create tactical surprises. A diverse strategy would help T1 avoid being predictable and ready for any situation.
